The VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Micropigmentation at KAE Aesthetic Laser Academy is a specialised qualification designed to provide the skills, knowledge, and clinical understanding required to perform micropigmentation—an advanced form of cosmetic tattooing aimed at enhancing facial features through semi-permanent make-up techniques.

This is the only Level 4 VTCT qualification focused entirely on micropigmentation, ideal for learners seeking to expand their aesthetic expertise and offer specialised services within the cosmetic and skin health sector.

What You Will Learn

You will develop a strong foundation in both theoretical knowledge and hands-on techniques, covering:

Eyebrow enhancements (powdered, block, and single stroke)
Eyebrow shaping and design
Eyeliner techniques
Lip liner, blush, and full lip colour
Pigment selection and colour theory
Consultation skills and treatment planning
Equipment handling, needle selection, and pigment understanding
Health, safety, and infection control
Client suitability and contraindications
Anaesthetics and aftercare protocols
Legal regulations including insurance, licensing, and clinical waste management
Business setup, pricing, and guidelines

In addition, the course includes an introduction to the history and evolution of semi-permanent makeup practices and how to build a client base in a compliant, safe, and professional manner.

What’s Included

All materials and equipment necessary for your training are provided during class sessions. You are required to bring a model for practical assessment. After certification, you’ll be able to purchase the recommended tools and products used during the course from authorised suppliers.

We request all learners to wear a professional therapist tunic during the training.

Qualification Requirements

As part of our fast-track training model, learners must complete assigned home study work, attend in-person training, and carry out supervised treatments on clients. To support skill development, we offer volunteer clinical experience opportunities, subject to availability and terms.
